"Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work.
It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart."

Do you feel like you are moving through your life on automatic pilot? Has stress and overwhelm become your default way of living? Are you ready to take a proactive role in your health and wellbeing by cultivating the inner resources that lead to greater psychological strength, resilience, and compassion?

Learning the tools and practice of mindfulness meditation is a short-term investment that will help you live with greater peace, clarity, joy and vitality.

This 3-day retreat is a rare opportunity to have an immersive experience in the practice and theory of mindfulness meditation on Long Island. Drawing from core components of the evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program and research in the science of Positive Psychology, we will take a deep dive exploration into what well-being is and how to cultivate greater flourishing in your life.

Open to practitioners of all meditation experience (including none at all), the program is highly participatory, supportive, and structured. You will learn and practice through:
  • guided instruction in a variety of mindfulness meditation practices
  • gentle stretching and mindful yoga
  • group dialogue and mindful communication exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life
  • activities and exercises to elicit the qualities and understanding of mindfulness
  • individually tailored instruction

Topics that will be reviewed and what you may experience include:
  • how to integrate a mindfulness meditation practice into your life
  • the root cause of stress and how to manage it through mindfulness
  • developing greater self-respect, confidence, energy, and enthusiasm for life
  • increased clarity, focus, and concentration
  • how to make the shift from living a life on "automatic pilot" to living a life of presence and wakefulness
  • the science behind mindfulness meditation and how the brain changes in response to a meditation practice
  • how to wire one's brain to experience greater peace and positive emotion, and not be enslaved to the causes of stress, anxiety and depression
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and freedom." -Viktor Frankl

In coming on this retreat, I was initially apprehensive, delaying packing leaving and considering backing out. I have never been more grateful that I followed through with an intention. I came in as a chronic pain sufferer seeking a technique that would be beneficial to my health. I got that and so much more. I was carrying grief and tragedy with me in a way I was unaware of (Dad with Alzheimers, death of beloved niece, family filled with illness). The experience was cathartic and impactful in ways that are difficult to put into words. If you are considering attending this retreat, all I can say is trust your instincts--the benefits are far reaching and valuable, facilitating growth in all aspects of your life and overall wellness.
