Frequently Asked questions

How much does the eight-week MBSR program cost?
  • The program costs $545.

Is there an early bird special?
  • Yes. There is a $50 discount if you pay the full tuition before the first class. So, $495 total.

Is this program covered by insurance?
  • Unfortunately, we cannot put the MBSR program through insurance yet.

Are there payment plans available?
  • Yes. You may pay three installments of $180, $180, and $185, on the first, third, and fifth classes, respectively. If this does not fit your needs, a customized payment plan can be created with your instructor.

Are scholarship funds available?
  • Limited scholarship funds are sometimes available. Please only request this option if cost is truly a deterrent from participation. Contact cory.muscara@gmail.com for more information.

What happens if I need to miss a class?
  • While it is ideal to be in attendance for all classes, we understand that this is not always realistic. The rule of thumb is that if you must miss more than three classes, it would be better to wait for the next MBSR cycle when you have more available time. Missing one or two classes is ok, if necessary.

Can I participate with a different group's class if I cannot make my own group's class a certain week?
  • Unfortunately, this is not an option. The group dynamic is very important to the learning and growing community built in MBSR, and can easily be tainted with unfamiliar faces coming and going through different groups.

I am not very flexible/have a physical handicap/have an injury…..will I be able to do the yoga?
  • The yoga performed in the MBSR curriculum is a very gentle yoga/light stretching. We will not be doing headstands or downward dogs. Most yoga is performed lying down on the floor, and can always be modified to meet each individual's needs. Do not let the idea of doing yoga be a deterrent from your participation in the program.

I am looking to be a MBSR teacher. Will participation in this course count toward the first prerequisite for MBSR teacher training?
  • Yes. Cory Muscara is listed on the Center For Mindfulness website as a professionally trained MBSR teacher, capable of providing training for this first prerequisite.
